In-Store Offering
Accept Zip in your physical store.
Overview
Zip works where your customers shop, including in person. Getting started in-store is one of the simplest ways to accept Zip: there's no API to integrate, no backend changes, and no developer needed. Just display the signage, brief your team, and you're live.
Whether you run a single boutique or a multi-location retail chain, Zip has an in-store path for you.
How In-Store Works
Customers check out with Zip directly from the Zip app on their phone. Here's what the experience looks like:
- Customer opens the Zip app and requests a one-time virtual card for their purchase amount.
- They tap the virtual card at your existing payment terminal — no new hardware required.
- The transaction clears in real time, just like any other card payment. Zip handles the rest.
Your POS system sees a standard card payment. That's it.
Getting Started
Getting up and running in-store happens in two steps.
Step 1 — Order Your Signage Kit
The Zip in-store signage kit is free and acts as your onboarding hub for physical acceptance. It includes everything you need to let customers know Zip is available before they reach the register:
- Window decal — catches shoppers outside before they walk in
- Door decal — confirms Zip acceptance right at entry
- Terminal topper — keeps Zip top of mind at checkout
- Small terminal topper — for compact counters and tight spaces
- Table tent — ideal for countertops, shelves, and high-traffic focal points
Each kit also includes an installation guide and access to on-demand associate training, so your team is ready to answer questions on day one.

Step 2 — Train Your Team
Once your kit arrives, use the included associate training materials to get your staff comfortable explaining Zip to customers. The training is self-guided and on-demand — no scheduling required.
Key talking points for associates:
- Customers pay with a virtual Zip card, just like any other contactless payment
- Zip splits the purchase into installments — the merchant gets paid in full upfront
Signage Placement Guide
Placing your signs in the right spots makes a real difference in customer awareness. Here's a quick reference:
| Sign | Recommended placement |
|---|---|
| Window decal | Storefront window, visible from outside |
| Door decal | Entry door at eye level |
| Terminal topper | Directly on or next to your payment terminal |
| Small terminal topper | Compact counters; anywhere space is limited |
| Table tent | Checkout counter, display tables, or near high-ticket items |
Detailed installation instructions are included in the kit. You can also find printable guides and additional resources in the Zip in-store resource library.
